Procal Analytics have nine PULSI 200LR In-Situ, Multi Component Analysers monitoring the emissions from Tuas Incinerator in Singapore. The instruments are fitted each side on a lime based scrubbing system, and monitor the following components;
- Range 1 0 - 1000mg/nm3 HCl
- Range 2 0 - 300mg/nm3 SO2
- Range 3 0 - 50% CO2
- Range 4 0 - 30% H2O
The existing systems have been operational for over four years. The instrument, utilising Procal Analytics unique In-Situ Sample Cell, has the capability of manual or automatic zero and calibration. The customer selected in-situ instruments to avoid the need to maintain complicated, and often unreliable, sample systems.
The repeat order is for a new system, which will incorporate Procal's latest Continuous Emissions Monitoring Analyser, The Procal 5000. This unique analyser is a full spectrum UV instrument, capable of monitoring very low levels of pollutant gases. In addition, the Procal 5000 will support a PULSI 200LR Infrared Instrument.Specification

Both analysers will be connected by an RS485 Modbus Interconnection. The concentrations of measured gases are displayed on a four inch liquid crystal display, mounted in Procal's Industrial PC, which not only displays concentrations, but also data logs and re-transmits that data in both a 4-20mA and an RS232 / 485 format.To demonstrate the units compliance with local Environmental Agency requirements, the system can automatically activate a solenoid valve, which will introduce compressed air into the cell, forcing out the flue gas and establishing a true zero, and if necessary, adjustments will be made. By the same method, certified test gas, traceable to a National Standard, can be introduced into the sample cell, enabling the calibration of the instrument to be verified.
Procal Analytics have supplied Continuous Emission Monitoring Analysers to many incinerators worldwide. The in-situ cells have been designed to withstand the highly corrosive flue gas experienced pre-scrubber on many types of domestic rubbish, clinical waste and industrial incinerators.
The contract was secured by Procal's regional distributor, Twin Tek Singapore, who not only has responsibility for sales in the region, but also has a ful commissioning / service capability.
