This contract was to supply seven PULSI 200LR Multi Component Stack Gas Analysers, monitoring NOx, CO2 and H2O. In addition, it called for eight of Procal’s industrial PC "Analyser Control Unit". The ACU can support up to four PULSI 200LR stack mounted analysers, however in this instance the customer opted for one ACU per analyser. The analysers comply with US EPA 40 CFR Parts 60 and 75, with the option of CENELEC approval, EExd IIB T6. The PULSI 200LR incorporates Procal’s proven In-Situ Envelope Sample Cell which can be zeroed and calibrated by introducing compressed air or certified test gas into the probe. This can either be manually or automatic and incorporates a calibration log to demonstrate to the local Environmental Agency that the instrument is in calibration. The customer, in his selection process, was concerned about the reliability and service requirements of the analysers under consideration. The customer chose the PULSI 200LR mainly because, being an in-situ instrument does not require filters, pumps, heated take-off, heated lines etc, items which are known to require significant maintenance. Indeed, the PULSI 200LR is designed for long periods of operation without any operator or service intervention. The system runs diagnostic routines, which warn the operator of any deterioration. This ensures that, in the unlikely event of any critical component showing signs of malfunction, the operator is alerted, enabling preventive maintenance to be carried out.
