A variation of the PULSI 200LR was chosen. The customer preferred to carry out the measurement in-situ to avoid the cost and hazards of transporting a highly corrosive sample to an extractive analyser. To enable the PULSI 200LR to monitor reliably in this application the probe was manufactured out of Incalloy 600.
Range to be monitored:
0 - 400mg/m3 NO.
The monitoring point is on the exit from a wet scrubber and there is known to be chlorine, SO2 and ferric chloride present.
The customer wanted the capability of demonstrating to the Environment Agency at any time if the analyser was in calibration. This can be achieved by applying certified test gas traceable to a National Standard. The customer was also very concerned about the reliability of any equipment associated with the Environment Agency reporting procedure. The PULSI range of analysers continually run diagnostics and have a very high level of availability, indeed there is no routine maintenance required other than an annual functional test.
