Procal Analytics Ltd is a manufacturer of a unique range of in situ stack emission gas analysers and is a part of the Canongate Group. Procal Analytics supplies photometric instruments to the power, cement, chemical and incineration industries internationally. The company is recruiting for the following position:

This appointment is an opportunity for an engineer who seeks responsibility to join the technical team of a growing company in the emissions gas analysis field. A major product development is underway.

Duties:

1. The design of software for analytical instruments, taking responsibility for validation and verifying performance, and meeting cost targets.
2. Software design required includes signal processing, internal control functions, interfaces such as OPC, Modbus, Databases, display and network communications.
3. To provide support of the existing software on installed instruments.
4. To produce as part of a team fully documented designs ready for production to comply with the ISO 9000 quality system.

Qualifications/Skills

• Degree in computer science or related subject essential.
• Good technical communication skills.
• Ability to design robust software for industrial emission monitoring (regulated worldwide), and to interface with optics electronics and chemometric specialists.

Experience

• Post-qualification experience should be relevant.
• C++ in a Windows environment
• Visual Basic in a Windows environment.
• Embedded C++ on Microprocessor.
• Assembler development on Microcontrollers.
• Embedded Windows or DOS.

Reporting to the Manager, Electronics and Software.

Hours of Work 8.30 – 5.00 Monday to Friday

Salary

£23,000 - £28,000 depending on experience
